Rooted in First-Hand Experience
The Nanny Standard was built from a lifetime of experience caring for children, raising a family, and understanding what it actually takes to keep a household running well. I began babysitting and nannying when I was young, caring for children across different ages and stages, from infancy through the elementary years. Long before The Nanny Standard existed, working with children was already part of my life.
Motherhood Changed My Perspective
Becoming a stay-at-home mother gave me an entirely different understanding of childcare. I wasn't simply caring for a child for part of the day. I was responsible for creating the environment, routines, and structure in which my son was growing.
I filled our days with reading, singing, baby sign language, Spanish, creative activities, and experiences that encouraged language, learning, and curiosity. Those experiences eventually became part of the way I cared for children in other families—creating thoughtful routines while still leaving room for childhood to be playful and engaging.
Understanding What Families Need
Becoming a single mother added another perspective. I know firsthand how much it matters for a household to run smoothly when a parent is balancing children, work, and everyday life. My work as a nanny and household manager allowed me to see those same needs from inside other families' homes. The Nanny Standard grew from understanding both the deeply personal side of raising a family and the professional responsibility of being trusted to support one.
